Shopify discounts vs built-in price discounts

Choose a discount method based on where shoppers must see the reduced price.

Use the built-in price discount to show the reduction while shoppers design a sign.
Use a Shopify automatic discount or discount code to apply the reduction in Shopify.

Choose where the discount appears

Built-in price discount

The built-in discount applies to one customiser. It shows the original price struck through next to the reduced price in the customer customiser. Sign Customiser sends the reduced price to Shopify and keeps the original price as the compare-at price.

Shopify discounts

Create automatic discounts and discount codes in Shopify. Shopify applies eligible discounts in the cart or at checkout. A Shopify discount does not change the price shown in the customer customiser.

If shoppers must see the original price struck through while they design a sign, use the built-in price discount.

Set the built-in price discount

Open Customisers in Sign Customiser.
Select the customiser that you want to edit.
Go to Settings → Discounts.
Find Built-in price discount.
Choose Percentage off the total price or Fixed amount off the total price.
Enter the discount.
Select Save built-in discount.

Choose the discount type

Percentage off the total price subtracts a percentage from the sign price. For example, a 10% discount changes a $100 price to $90. Enter the percentage in Discount percentage.

Fixed amount off the total price subtracts the amount that you enter from the sign price. Enter the amount in Discount amount.

Use both discount methods

You can use a built-in discount and a Shopify discount together. Sign Customiser applies the built-in discount first. Shopify then calculates its discount from the reduced price.

Shopify follows the combination rules in your Shopify discount settings.

To create a Shopify discount, see Create Shopify discounts for custom sign products. The Shopify discounts card on the Discounts page tells you which products or collections to use.

Add text underneath the price

Text underneath the price adds a static label below the price. It does not calculate a discount or change the price. You can use this label with or without a built-in discount.

For example, enter “Free shipping” or “VAT included”.

Open Customisers and select the customiser.
Go to Settings → Languages.
Open the language that your customers use.
Use Search labels to find Text underneath the price.
Enter the text that you want to show below the price.
Select Save draft.
Select Preview and check the text in the customer customiser.
Select Publish to make the saved text available to customers.

For multilingual customisers

Repeat these steps for each published language. A saved draft does not change the live customer customiser. You must publish the draft.
