How to enable/disable SVG, EPS, and Illustrator-compatible PDF files for manufacturing

Use these steps to turn SVG, EPS, and AI files on or off for manufacturing.

Open the Sign Customiser admin.
Click Customisers.
Click the customiser that you want to change.
In the left-hand menu, go to Settings → General Settings.
Scroll down to the Generate SVG image of sign section. This section has three options:
- SVG Image — the scalable vector file for CNC machines and letter tracing.
- EPS Image — an EPS file that our server converts from the generated SVG.
- AI Image — a PDF file saved with an .ai filename.
Stencil customisers have a fourth option, DXF (.dxf). This is an outline file in AutoCAD R12 DXF format. Lightbox customisers do not show this section.
To turn on a file type for this customiser, set it to Yes. To turn it off, set it to No.
Click Save at the bottom of the form.

Before you save

Font check on Simple Letter customisers. Simple Letter customisers check your fonts when you set SVG Image, EPS Image, or AI Image to Yes and SVG Image is No. The check opens each uploaded font file and tries to draw an outline of the letter a. If a font fails, a window with the title “You have fonts that are not compatible for SVG generation” shows the fonts. The file types stay at No. Click Change fonts. Change those fonts on the Fonts page. Then set the file type to Yes again.
SVG Image set to No. When you set SVG Image to No, EPS Image and AI Image also change to No. On Stencil customisers, DXF (.dxf) also changes to No. Click Save only when you want all of them off.
Plan limit. The current plans include SVG generation. The older Starter, Standard, and Launch plans do not include it. On these plans, the section shows a Plan Upgrade Required badge. You cannot change the options.

Our server converts EPS and AI files from the generated SVG. When you turn on EPS or AI, SVG generation also turns on. This is also true for DXF on Stencil customisers.
