Pricing - Frame Fit model
Last updated:
Frame Fit prices a sign from its width and height. With a Volumetric parcel, the shipping charge also uses the depth and the packaging allowances. Frame Fit adds no charge for each letter.
A Frame Fit pricing is not tied to a font. A Frame Fit customiser uses one pricing.
Cut-out metal signs also use Frame Fit pricing. The width and height of the sign control the calculation. Lightbox, Braille, Aluminium Plate and Wood Frame customisers also use Frame Fit.
For Neon Letter, Channel Letter and Wood Letter signs, you choose Frame Fit when you create a customiser. On the How do you price your signs? step, select Price per square meter/foot. For Metal Cut-Out, Lightbox, Aluminium Plate, Braille and Wood Frame signs, Frame Fit is set for you. The step does not show.

How pricing works in Frame Fit
Frame Fit uses the width and the height of the sign to find the size boundary. A size boundary is the largest width and height that one price covers.
Frame Fit checks the size boundaries in order. It uses the first boundary that is large enough for the sign. For a Lightbox with Volumetric parcel, the boundary must also be deep enough, if you set a Maximum Depth. If the sign is larger than the last boundary, Frame Fit uses the last boundary.
The sign price is the total of the items below, less any discount that you set for the customiser. Price multipliers that you set on a colour or an option also change this total.
The items are:
-
The Sign Start Price - (Optional) of the size boundary.
-
The shipping charge, if Sign Customiser calculates shipping.
-
The price of each option that the customer chooses. Examples are colours, backboards, mountings and extras.

Open the Pricing page
-
Open the Sign Customiser admin. Select Customisers.
-
Select your Frame Fit customiser.
-
In the customiser sidebar, select Core Setup → Pricing.
-
If the Pricing card is empty, select Add Pricing. If a pricing is already there, select it.
The Add Pricing button shows only when the customiser has no pricing. Frame Fit uses only the first pricing in the list, so do not select Duplicate on it.
The Price Settings page opens. It has a Label field, a Sign Dimension Pricing - (Shipping Unit Pricing) section and a Size Boundaries card.
Set the label
Enter a name in Label. Only you see the label. Customers do not see it.
Set the shipping calculation
In the Sign Dimension Pricing - (Shipping Unit Pricing) section, choose Flat parcel or Volumetric parcel.
Flat parcel
Sign Customiser multiplies the width by the height. It then multiplies the result by your price for each square unit. Choose this option when the shipping cost increases with the area of the sign.
Volumetric parcel
Sign Customiser first calculates the weight of the parcel:
(width + Width Packaging Allowance) × (height + Height Packaging Allowance) × depth ÷ Volumetric divisor
It then multiplies the weight by your price for each kilogram or pound.
-
Volumetric divisor is required. Your shipping carrier uses this number to calculate the volumetric weight of a parcel.
-
For most signs, depth is the Fixed Sign Depth that you enter on each size boundary.
-
For Lightbox signs, Sign Customiser adds the Depth Packaging Allowance to the depth. Maximum Depth is the largest depth that the size boundary covers.
If your Store sells on Shopify, you can select Add weight to product instead of calculating price. Sign Customiser then adds the calculated weight to the Shopify product. Sign Customiser adds no shipping charge. Shopify can use the weight in the weight-based shipping rates that you set up in Shopify. If you do not select this option, Sign Customiser calculates the shipping charge.

Add size boundaries
-
In the Size Boundaries card, select Add size boundary. Select a size boundary to open it.
-
Enter Maximum Width and Maximum Height. These are the largest width and height that the boundary covers. Both fields are disabled while the pricing has only one size boundary. A single boundary applies to all sizes. Add a second boundary to enable the fields.
-
For Volumetric parcel, enter Fixed Sign Depth. For a Lightbox with Volumetric parcel, enter Maximum Depth instead. It is disabled in the same way.
-
In Sign Start Price - (Optional), enter the starting price of a sign of this size. This field is good for additional costs, such as the building cost.
-
For Volumetric parcel, you can enter Width Packaging Allowance and Height Packaging Allowance. For a Lightbox, you can also enter Depth Packaging Allowance. These values add space for foam and wrapping.
-
Set the shipping price of the boundary. For Flat parcel, go to Sign Dimension Price - (Shipping Unit Price). Enter the Parcel Cost or the Price per cm² (or Price per in²). Sign Customiser calculates the other value. For Volumetric parcel, go to Shipping Cost Configuration. Enter the Parcel Cost, or enter Cost per kg or Cost per lb. If you selected Add weight to product instead of calculating price, the Parcel Cost and Cost per kg or Cost per lb fields do not show. A Weight Configuration panel shows instead.
-
Select Done.
-
Repeat these steps for each size boundary. Each boundary must have a greater width and a greater height than the boundary before it.
-
Select Save.
The admin shows the length unit of your Store, cm or in, next to each size field.
