Calculate the shipping cost per square centimetre from your shipping cost matrix, for Advanced Letter and Frame Fit pricing.

Last updated:

Use this article to calculate the shipping cost for each square centimetre. It applies to Advanced Letter and Frame Fit pricing when you select Flat parcel under Sign Dimension Pricing - (Shipping Unit Pricing). For volumetric shipping, read Pricing - Advanced letter model.

You do not have to do the calculation. Enter the parcel cost in Parcel Cost. The admin then fills in Price per cm². The last section shows where to do this.

Before you start

Get a shipping cost matrix from your supplier or freight company. If you do not have a matrix, read Get your shipping cost matrix.

The formula

Parcel Cost / (Maximum Width x Maximum Height)

Each size boundary has a Maximum Width and a Maximum Height. Find the step in your matrix that has the same size. Use the cost of that step. Use centimetres for the width and the height.

If your Store uses inches, the admin shows the rate for each square inch (Price per in²). The formula does not change. Use the width and the height in inches.

Example

A size boundary has a Maximum Width of 75 cm and a Maximum Height of 75 cm. In the matrix, the cost for 75 cm by 75 cm is $98.00.

98 / (75 x 75) = 0.017422

The rate is $0.017422 for each cm². Do not round the rate to three decimal places. The admin keeps six decimal places. If you enter 0.017, the shipping cost of a 75 cm by 75 cm sign is $95.63 and not $98.00.

Enter the value in the admin

  1. Open the Sign Customiser admin. Click Customisers and select your customiser.
