Request Essential Information – Simple Letter Model
Last updated:
This guide shows how to get the information from your manufacturer that you need for the Simple Letter customiser.
Step 1: Choose Your Manufacturer
Your manufacturer is your supplier. Our directory lists sign manufacturers: Find Sign Makers.
The Find Sign Makers website shows what each supplier specialises in and where it ships. To contact a supplier, use Request a quote on its profile.
Step 2: Create a Copy of the Essential Information Sheet
We provide a sample sheet. The sheet marks the parts that you fill in (For merchants) and the parts that your supplier fills in (For suppliers). To start, do these steps:
2.1 Make Your Copy
-
Open the template here: Simple Model - Essential information.
-
Go to File → Make a copy.
-
Name your file.
Send this copy to your supplier.
2.2 Add Your Fonts
Before you send the sheet, add this information:
-
Replace the example fonts with your fonts (Fonts column).
-
Add a preview of each font (Preview column). This is optional.
-
Add a link to each font file (Download link column). This is optional. If you do not add a link, attach the font files to your email.

Note: make sure that the customiser accepts your font. To test the font, upload it to the customiser. Then check that it shows on the storefront.
2.3 Add Your Sizes
In the part of the sheet marked For merchants: List the sizes and the currency you want to use:
-
Add a label for each size (for example, Small or Medium).
-
Enter the fixed width of each size in centimetres (Width (cm) row). If your sizes have a fixed height, ask your supplier to add a height row.
-
Enter your Store currency.

2.4 Send the File to Your Supplier
When your data is in the sheet, send the sheet to your supplier. First, create a shareable link.
Steps to Get a Shareable Link:
-
Open your Google Sheet.
-
Click the Share button.
-
Under General access, make sure Anyone with the link is selected from the dropdown menu.
-
Choose the access level: Editor.
-
Click Copy link.
-
Click Done. Then paste the link in your email.
You can use the email template below.
Email Template:
Subject: Request for Custom Neon Sign Information
Dear [Supplier Name],
I hope this email finds you well. I want to create a custom neon sign for my business with the Sign Customiser app. To do this, I need certain information from you. I need pricing and shipping details, and the font specifications.
To make this easy, I made a copy of the essential information sheet. Please fill in the required details. You can open the sheet at this link: [insert link to sheet file]. Please email the completed sheet back to me as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for your help with this custom neon sign.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
Step 3: Create Your Simple Letter Customiser
When your supplier returns the completed sheet, use the data to set up your customiser.
To create your customiser, follow the main setup guide: Getting Started with the Simple Letter Model
The steps below show where to use each part of the sheet. Open your customiser in the Sign Customiser admin. The Sizes, Pricing and Fonts settings are in the menu under Core Setup.
3.1 Add sizes
Go to Core Setup → Sizes. Use the size information from the Characters and lines table in the sheet to add the sizes.

The Sizes form uses the Measurement Unit of your Store. To check the unit, go to Store Settings → Admin Settings → Measurement Unit. If your Store uses inches, convert the centimetre widths from the sheet before you enter them.
For detailed steps, see: Sizes – Simple Letter
3.2 Add Pricing
Go to Core Setup → Pricing. Click Add Pricing.
Under Letter pricing mode, choose how the customiser prices the letters. Ask your supplier which mode fits their prices.
-
Every letter costs the same: use one price for each letter.
-
Price by position: set a price for each letter position. Ask your supplier for these prices.

In the Price table in the sheet, find these values for each size:
-
The cost for each line of text. The sheet calls this “Base cost”. Enter it in Base Price.
-
The price for each letter. The sheet calls this “Character”. Enter it in Letter Price when the mode is Every letter costs the same. When the mode is Price by position, click Edit position prices instead, and enter a price for each letter position.

Your supplier can put your fonts in tiers with different prices. If so, create one pricing plan for each tier.
For detailed steps, see: Pricing - Simple Letter Model
3.3 Add Fonts
Go to Core Setup → Fonts. Upload your fonts. Then assign each font to its pricing tier, as your supplier specifies.

For detailed steps, see Fonts - Simple Letter Model
Step 4: Test Your Pricing
When setup is done, test each font and each size. Check that the prices match the information from your supplier.
Use the price breakdown to see how the customiser calculates the final price:
-
Open your customiser. Go to the Overview page.
-
Click Preview in the page header. Then click Price in the preview toolbar.
-
The Price Breakdown - shown for debugging panel shows how the customiser calculates the total price.
