Pricing and Sizing - Model Overview

Sign Customiser has three pricing models. Choose the model that fits how you calculate your prices.

When you create a customiser, you select a sign type. Then you select a pricing option. This table shows which model each option uses:

Some sign types have only one pricing model. For these sign types, the create flow does not show the pricing step. Lightbox Signs, Braille Signs, Metal Cut-Out Signs, Aluminium Plate Signs and Wood Frame Signs use only Frame Fit. Stencils and Address Sign Numbers use only Simple Letter.

Simple Letter Model

The Simple Letter Model uses predefined size tiers. Set a fixed width or a fixed height for each tier. Then set the price by size, number of characters, and number of lines.

This is the simplest model. Use it if you sell signs in standard sizes, such as 40 cm, 60 cm and 80 cm.

You can charge the same price for each letter. You can also set a price for each letter position with Price by position.

Advanced Letter Model

The Advanced Letter Model measures the font path data of each character. It uses this data to find the material that a sign needs. You can price letters in two ways:

• Letter Material Cost – The price follows the length of material that the letters need. The price changes with the text that the customer types.

• Fixed Cost Per Letter – Each letter has a fixed cost. This is the default for new pricing. You can also set a price for each letter position with Price by position.

The Advanced Letter Model also supports:

• Custom sizing – Turn on Custom Sizing on the Sizes page. Customers can then enter their own size.

• Font-specific measurements – Set the minimum heights of the smallest letter and the uppercase letter for each font.

• Shipping calculations – Calculate shipping from the dimensions of the finished sign.

• AI Sign Designer – For Neon Letter Signs and Channel Letter Signs, price SVG-based designs with the same material calculations.

Frame Fit Model

The Frame Fit Model prices a sign from the dimensions of its frame. The text in the sign does not change the price. A size boundary sets the starting price. Enter this price in Sign Start Price - (Optional).

The app adds shipping to the sign price as a separate charge. On a Shopify store with a volumetric parcel, the app does not add this charge when Add weight to product instead of calculating price is on. Shopify calculates the shipping price instead. To set the shipping charge:

1. Select Core Setup → Pricing.

2. Open a pricing.

3. Find Sign Dimension Pricing - (Shipping Unit Pricing).

4. Under this heading, select one option:

   • Flat parcel – The charge is width × height × rate.

   • Volumetric parcel – The app calculates the parcel weight as (width + width packaging allowance) × (height + height packaging allowance) × depth ÷ volumetric divisor. For a Lightbox, the depth packaging allowance is added to the depth. The charge is the parcel weight × the rate per kg or per lb. This charge does not apply when Add weight to product instead of calculating price is on (Shopify stores only).

The AI Sign Designer also works with Frame Fit pricing for Neon Letter Signs, Channel Letter Signs and Metal Cut-Out Signs.

Use this model for lightbox signs, panel displays, board signs and other signs. It suits signs where the manufacturing cost depends on the size of the frame and not on the amount of text.
