The Fixed Height model is a legacy pricing model. Sign Customiser does not offer it for new customisers. You cannot change an existing customiser to this model. A copy of a customiser on this model stays on this model. This article is for customisers that already use it.

A customiser on this model shows the banner Action required: migrate this customiser to the Simple Letter model. The Customisers list shows a Migrate badge for it.

For a new Neon Letter Signs, Channel Letter Signs or Wood Letter Signs customiser, use the Simple Letter model. On the Pricing step, choose Fixed height per size (badged Simple). Stencils and Address Sign Numbers have only the Simple Letter model. For them, the create flow skips the Pricing step and sets fixed height sizing without showing that option. To move an old customiser, create a new customiser in the same way. Keep Include demo data on, which is the default. If you turn it off, open the Sizes page and set Size Strategy to Fixed Height - Width scales dynamically on each size. For more information, see Pricing - Simple Letter Model and Sizes – Simple Letter Model.

How the price is calculated

On the Fixed Height model, four things set the price of typed text before any option multiplier:

  • the size

  • the number of letters

  • the number of lines

  • the font

A selected option with a price multiplier also changes it. The multiplier can apply to Letter Price Only or to Final Price (includes additional costs from other options).

Spaces are free. Letters, numbers and symbols have a price.

Here are two examples.

Example 1

  • The sign says “Awesome Sign”.

Neon sign reading Awesome Sign on one line

  • The customer chooses a small size.

  • The sign has one line of text.

  • The base price for a line of text in the small size is $100.

  • The sign has 11 letters. The price per letter for this line is $20.

Calculation:

Base Price + (letters x price per letter)

Result:

100 + (11 x 20) = $320.00

Example 2

  • The sign says “Awesome” on line 1 and “Sign” on line 2.

Neon sign with Awesome on line 1 and Sign on line 2

  • The customer chooses a small size.

  • The sign has two lines of text.

  • The base price for line 1 in the small size is $100. The base price for line 2 is $60.

  • Line 1 has 7 letters at $20 per letter. Line 2 has 4 letters at $30 per letter.

Calculation:

(Base Price + (letters x price per letter)) + (Base Price + (letters x price per letter))

Result:

(100 + (7 x 20)) + (60 + (4 x 30)) = 240 + 180 = $420.00

Add or edit a pricing

Add your sizes first. The Price Settings section shows only when the customiser has sizes.

  1. Open the Sign Customiser admin for your store.

    • Universal: click Customisers in the sidebar.

    • Shopify: open the app from your Shopify admin, then click Customisers in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the name of the customiser.

  3. In the Customiser Menu, open Core Setup and click Pricing. In Universal, if you do not see the Customiser Menu, make your browser window wider, or click Menu.

Customiser Menu with Core Setup open and Pricing selected, next to the Pricing card with the Add Pricing button

  4. To change a pricing, click it in the list. To add a pricing, click Add Pricing or Add new pricing.

  5. Fill in Price Settings.

This screenshot shows a Simple Letter customiser. It cuts off the input boxes at the bottom. The page for the Fixed Height model has no Letter pricing mode setting.

Label: The name of the pricing. Use the label to select this pricing when you edit a font.

Base Price: The cost of each line of text on the sign. On a Multi-selection customiser, if Charge base price for each font is set on the Pricing page, the base price can apply to each font used on a line. You can set a different base price for each line, unless the customiser uses Multi-selection and Charge base price only once is set on the Pricing page.

Letter Price: The cost of each letter on a line. You can set a different letter price for each line.

If you do not want an extra base price or letter price, enter 0.

  6. Click Save.

The new pricing shows in the Pricing section. To change it later, click it.
