Accessing the Pricing Settings

  1. Go to the Sign Customiser admin:

    • Universal: Go to Home in your account. You can build and preview your customiser without a plan. The customiser appears on your site only with an active plan, or with a trial that has a payment method on file.

    • Shopify users: Open the Sign Customiser app from your Shopify admin.

  2. Click Customisers in the menu.

  3. Select your customiser.

  4. In the menu on the left of the customiser page, go to Core Setup → Pricing.

The Pricing page in the Customiser Menu, with Core Setup and Pricing selected and the Pricing card showing Add Pricing

Step 1: Create a Pricing Plan for Your Sizes

  1. In Pricing, click Add Pricing, or edit an existing pricing.

  2. Under Price Settings, enter:

    • Label – the name of your pricing plan. Your customers do not see the label.
  3. Under Letter pricing mode, select one of the following:

    • Every letter costs the same – one base price for each line of text, plus one Letter Price for every letter on that line.

    • Price by position – base price plus an individual price for each letter position in each line of text.

The Price Settings card with the Label field, and the Letter pricing mode choices Every letter costs the same and Price by position

  4. Pricing for each size shows all the sizes that you created in the Sizes setting.

Configure your pricing for each size:

    • Base Price – the cost for each line of text on the sign. You can set different base prices for each line. You cannot leave the field empty. If you do not need a base price, enter ‘0’.

Note: If you choose Charge base price only once under Base Price for Multi-selection, the Base Price fields for each size are disabled. Enter the base price in Base Pricing for each size. This section is under that choice, at the bottom of the Pricing page. For more information, see Multi-colour / Multi-font sign designs.

    • Letter Price – set the letter price according to the selected Letter pricing mode:

      • Every letter costs the same: Enter a fixed price per letter. You cannot leave the field empty. If you do not need a letter price, enter ‘0’.

      • Price by position: Click Edit position prices and enter a price for each letter position. Click Save prices when you finish. You can enter ‘0’ for any free positions. The last position price also applies to all letters after the last position.

The Price by position dialog with a price field for each letter position, Add position, Remove last position, Cancel and Save prices

  5. Click Save.

How Pricing Works in the Simple Letter Model

The Simple Letter pricing model uses these factors to calculate the letter price of the sign:

  • Size selection – either width or height is fixed

  • Number of lines

  • Base price per line

  • Price per character per line

You can create multiple pricing rules and assign them to different fonts. For example, give fonts that need more material or labour a higher price tier.

The examples below show how the calculation works.

Example 1: One Line of Text

Sign Details

Sign text: Awesome Sign

Font: Yellowtail font

Size: Small

Lines: 1

Line 1:

  • Base price for Line 1: $100

  • Characters: 11

  • Price per character: $20

Calculation

Final Price Formula = Base Price + (Character × Price per Character)

Total = 100 + (11 × 20) = $320.

Example 2: Two Lines of Text

Sign Details

Sign text line 1: Awesome

Sign text line 2: Sign

Font: Yellowtail font

Size: Small

Lines: 2

Line 1:

  • Base price: $100

  • Characters: 7

  • Price per character: $20

Line 2:

  • Base price: $60

  • Characters: 4

  • Price per character: $30

Calculation

Total Price of Each Line Formula = Base Price + (Character × Price per Character)

Final Price Formula = Total Price of Line 1 + Total Price of Line 2

Line 1: 100 + (7 × 20) = 240

Line 2: 60 + (4 × 30) = 180

Total = 240 + 180 = $420

How to See Price Breakdown on the Customiser

To see how the total price is calculated, open Preview mode in your customiser.

Click Price. In the Desktop view, a breakdown panel opens at the top right of the preview. In the Mobile view, or in any preview that is narrower than 1025 px, the breakdown opens as a pop-up.

The panel is titled Price Breakdown - shown for debugging. It appears only in Preview mode, so your customers never see it. For each line, it shows the font and the letters. When a base price applies, it also shows that price:

  • Every letter costs the same: the price and the letter count, for example Letters: $20.00 × 11.

  • Price by position: Letters priced by position, with the letter count.

If the sign has another priced option or a total price multiplier, Letters Total shows the sum of the base prices and the letter prices.

FAQ

How many letter positions can you have for Price by position pricing?

You can set prices for up to 100 letter positions. The Add position button stops at the character limit of the size, or at 100 positions if that is lower. If a customer enters more letters than you configured, each extra letter uses the price of the final position.

Can you switch between Every letter costs the same and Price by position without losing pricing?

Yes. You can switch between Every letter costs the same and Price by position without losing the saved prices for either mode.
Switching back to a pricing mode restores the values that you entered earlier for that mode.

What happens if I change all my prices at once with Adjust all prices? Will it update both letter pricing modes or the one currently in use?

It updates both sets of saved prices, including the position-based price lists. To use it, go to Settings → Adjust all prices in the menu on the left of the customiser page.

Type a question and press Enter. Use the arrow keys to move between the results.
